Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific German forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.
A Major Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, has been a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a major coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Departure from Munich has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the club's supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Forward Line
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant boost to United’s forward line. She has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Building Momentum at Carrington
The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club appear to be building positive momentum.
Recent performances feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.
In the transfer market, the winter break has seen further activity:
- The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s extension, a senior figure commented: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the top European competition.”
